My first experience with Ethiopian cuisine happened here, just off Rittenhouse Square, a place where I would not usually travel for authentic, cultural dining. However, this small cafe is home to a wonderful selection of family style dishes (based around lamb,chicken and beef, though there are vegetarian options) which are absolutely delicious and served by a chef who is happy to suggest dishes for Ethiopian food beginners. The food is delicious- the lamb is highly recommended (both by the chef and by me) and my advice is to make sure that you eat authentically- rip off pieces of the bread and pick up the surrounding vegetables, herbs and meat with it so that you don’t stick out as a newcomer.

What I had: I ate family style so the picture below is a mixture of doro (chicken) and lamb tibs placed on top of enjera and surrounded by different herbs and vegetables.
